Mixes

Breaking news - 8/24/2011

Yes, you are correct, the newest mix is dated 2007. I've been off the decks for a long time so for the time being you're going to have to settle for something "vintage." Hell I should just rename it to "Throwback mix" and say it's new. :P

All of these mixes date from my old name which was DJ Eth so they will be labeled accordingly. Do not fear you aren't getting someone else's work, it's the old version of me.

I can't promise when, but I will have something for everyone in the "near future." Whatever that means...

Top 2007 Tracks

So as per my Best of 2007 Chart I did a mix of the top 8 tunes for me from 2007. I started with number eight and worked my way down to the best tune of '07. So get ready and enjoy 46 or so minutes of the best funky, electro, and just damn good grooving tracks from 2007. As an added bonus I encoded it in 192 MP3, bit higher than usual.

So I wanted to test out my streaming server before I decided to do online/webcast mix sessions as I'd had a bunch of problems last time. Well I'm still working out the bugs, but I got a nice long mix session out of it. And the archive worked this time!

So here it is for you guys. I think it had been about 2 weeks since I'd touched my decks (maybe longer) so I'm a bit rusty in the beginning. It starts off in the middle of a track as at that point I was just using some pre-mixed stuff while I was setting stuff up. Around 5 minutes I start the actual live mix. It gets into some big electro tracks for a decent portion of it and then I shift over to some more funky tracks. Because it was a live broadcast/webcast there are a few times when I'm talking over it.

Graduation Mix

So 'twas the day, I graduated from UCSC. Quite a big day, the whole ceremony, outings (food etc) with the family. So I didn't get back to my place 'till around 8pm. For whatever reason I had a strong urge to mix some. It was a rather spur of the moment idea to record it. I then figured this would be a perfect time to do a mix that is somewhat of a timeline. Well in all honesty, that idea didn't work out. I could have done a mix going from some of the early tunes that I got started and then progressing towards some more current ones.

Instead I ended up going with a bunch of big tunes that are rather recent and really nothing from earlier on. However, I had to start it with probably one of the most influential tracks, "Love On My Mind." Huge hit for Freemasons, amazing discovery for me. Back in 2005, seems like so long ago now... Really one of (if not THE) track that got me on the search for more good dance music, and in turn I stumbled across the UK house music scene. All of that together with finding DJ Cruze's podcast is what got me into DJ'ing in the first place.

So Freemasons open the mix and it closes with a great Bimbo Jones (Lee Dagger) remix which is still a promo track. Between it are a bunch of really fresh big tunes. I'm really happy with the mixing on this one, the tracks ended up flowing really well and the builds/transitions are great. There's lots of energy in this mix- it matched my mood of the day, hopefully it will do something for you. :D
